About the Author

The Adventures of Porcini are a children’s picture book series written and illustrated by Jeanne Yee that will set a permanent smile on your heart.

The first book, Porcini’s Great Escape, is about an adventurous mushroom named Porcini, who travels from her birthplace in the mountains of central Italy to the city of Rome. She not only dreams of seeing the world, but is relieved to have escaped the fate of being served with fresh olive oil and parsley. Children of all ages will enjoy hearing this upbeat and humorous twist on the adventures of a curious mushroom. Great for readers ages 7-10.

This is Jeanne’s first children’s picture book that she both wrote and illustrated. She grew up on Oahu, Hawaii, with her older sister. Together they spent a good portion of their lives working at their parents’ candy store. Her memories are full of strange customer experiences, visits to the local library, and diversions to the drug store and video arcade to avoid extensive hours at the family business. When there were no customers, Jeanne read countless books, watched soap operas, and doodled extensively to pass the time. She also mastered the Rubik’s Cube in the early 80′s.

Jeanne moved to northern California in 2001 when her daughter was born, and has remained in the South Bay ever since. She was born with the eye and heart of a dreamer, and hopes her first book, Porcini’s Great Escape, will reach the ears of millions around the world. She uses her current creative skills to teach collage art at her studio in downtown Los Gatos. Jeanne is living out her most memorable adventures with her daughter, Caitlyn, and soulmate, Chris.

Jeanne Yee is a member of SCBWI (San Francisco/South Region)

  1. Oh, to escape the horrors of being served with olive oil and parsley!

I bet there are some good kidlit tales that can come from your experiences working in your parents’ candy store. Isn’t that almost every little kid’s dream?
